Purpose:
The purpose of this EVA was to expose the crew to chemistry field work while staying in-sim. On Mars, it will be important to be able to determine the location and concentration of various elements/minerals.
Narrative:
At 1330 hours, Liz Painter, Kelsey Compagnon and I left the hab to visit a location on Cow Dung Road not far from the hab. At that location, we collected some rock samples and used a Geiger counter to test for radiation. Afterwards, we headed over to the Pinto Canyon to look for water, which was found and collected in order to bring it back to the hab for analysis. Additionally, the crew walked around the canyon looking for other sources of water as well as petrified wood and different kinds of rocks. After achieving the goal, the group drove back to the hab.
