Tuesday 10^th February

Due to the power outage we did not perform much science, but we managed to set up some instruments in the lab (petri dishes, microscope, staining solutions, cultures, ph meter…). So we’re ready to start sampling and observe our samples.

Therefore we’re requesting to do an scientific EVA to sites 175 and 176 tomorrow, with Takeshi and Elena to start taking pictures, measuring lengths, inventorying lichens hosts rocks and sampling lichens for the lab back at the hab and sampling for sequencing them back in Dr. Naganuma’s lab in Japan.

Those sites are 1.2 km from the hab and shouldn’t take us more than 3 hours.

We’re looking forward for some exciting science.
