Together with three other crewmembers, we had a close-to-eight-hour-long EVA
during which we walked, climbed dunes and collected samples while carrying our
equipment. The main purpose was to test our ability to perform day-long
expeditions at FMARS. Even though doing this with the suits and carrying all our
equipment was obviously more tiring than if wearing trekking clothes and
carrying simple backpacks, no problem was encountered and the crew could have
kept going for several additional hours if the day was longer. Crew's fitness
should thus not be a limiting factor for long sampling expeditions at FMARS, if
we get there.
