Astronomy Report

05/01/2014

Kavya.K.Manyapu

Sky Conditions:

Clear

Wind Conditions:

Strong

Observation Start Time:

9pm

Observation End Time:

11pm

Summary:

Focus of the telescope works well, but the calibration is off. We will add another calibration star tonight to see if it gets better. Mid-way through each observation we seem to have to re-calibrate to keep objects in view when we slew to new ones. Otherwise, it has been working pretty well

Objects Viewed:

Sombrero Galaxy, Jupiter, Mars

Problems Encountered:

Recalibration required after a few objects are observed to keep telescope in line. We do not know why we need to re-calibrate so often. Will ensure all of the BLACK handles are tight. Will not touch any handle with RED tape.
