0325-CommandersReport
Greetings Mission Support,
Commander Report Crew 166:
Mathieu Roiseux
Sol 5
Earth date: 25/03/16
This night, we tried to use the CCD to take pictures with the
telescope. Unfortunately, we failed to connect the dome and the
telescope together. The programs on the MUSK observatory need this
connection so we were not able to use it properly. All our experiment
to make it work finished when the dome refuse to close due to a lack
of power.
This morning, three persons went on EVA. They moved the first emitter
placed by Gregory because it was not placed somewhere we shall go
often. Julie took some earth to make a small experiment in biology. It
consist in making grow radishes in grounds of coffee and a mix of
grounds of coffee and Martian earth. Bertrand continued to try
deferent way to use his antenna.
This afternoon the wind waked up and when it blows really fast, the
HAB is moving a bit. It seems like the microwave and other stuff on
the shelves are alive. The weather will be worst this night giving
time to our astronomer to rest.
I forgot to mention it in my previous report but we won’t do the Nasa
experiment. Some of our really doesn’t want to participate and the
other think that it’s too late to start it because we should have
begun five days before our arrival. Heidi’s experiment is however
planned for tomorrow.
