With my second EVA of the trip today I was able to survey and collect plant and lichen specimens to the area northeast of the Hab. Though there were two dry creek beds floristic diversity was generally low in this area: the plant species are few and mostly far past flowering. The tops of hills were birds perch were rich in lichens in this area - providing ample opportunities to collect. Field observations suggest that promontories of conglomerate sandstone - such as those to the west and north of the hab, contain the highest levels of plant, lichen, and endolith diversity. Future EVAs will focus on those locations.
