Crew Commander Daily Report

SOL 10

Crew 160

Crew Commander: Lycourgos Manolopoulos

Another cloudy day, with no wind present. We were assigned from Mission Support to travel to White Rock Reservoir to document the area. We located the area on the map, however, we seemed to have passed it since the roads were not distinguishable on the turns and followed a more “developed” dirt road. This led us far beyond our destination and we had to end the first EVA. We requested to track back to the destination again in another EVA since further analysis of our video footage from the first EVA allowed us to locate the required turn. Once we embarked on our second EVA, we were able to see the path with much more confidence. We found the reservoir and the surrounding rock formations. We took plenty of photos and video footage to submit to Mission Support for further observations. All ATVs were functioning flawlessly! It’s a good thing we were able to conduct this mission today since the next couple of days may give us dangerous weather for ATVs.

Regarding the crew, each member is doing just fine. We are all still testing out new games to play at night to keep our minds active and stimulated. We played Chinese Checkers and Tangoes which really do the trick. Some members still take naps in the afternoon and I can’t blame them. For some reason, I can’t get myself to do that. I guess it’s for the better to always keep eyes on the Hab while others rest.
