Commander Report
10 May 2016 – Sol 9
Hello Everybody,
Greetings from Mars, today Celeste has her first EVA, she tested her Rover 300 meters from the Hab on a flat surface with stones. In the next EVA, she is going to test it in a more inclined surface. The test gave good results, the rover could move with facility and the sensors worked very well. Even at times where the balance would disappear by a rock, the rover could return to its initial position.
The group had pancakes and coffee for breakfast and tuna with rice for the dinner. Jeel and Marcos are in charge of the cooking and Luis and Nolverth the cleaning.
Orson did an inventory of the mechanical tools like hammers, screwdrivers, etc. Luis made a simulation in Ansys for an air velocity of 4 meters/sec and increased the size of the mesh that he design yesterday to don’t have a big separation between nodes. Jeel examined the samples of the Marco’s rover and he found Escherichia coli again. He saved old data and isolated samples to bring them to Peru.
Marcos measured the scope of his rover’s camera, repair some aesthetics details of his rover too and he has an trainee with the ATVs. Nolverth checked that there are more roots growing up!! All the seeds of my projects germinated, the leaves are becoming more overweight as it should be and the system indicated “irrigate” today at the afternoon because yesterday it wasn’t necessary.
All crew members are going to keep collecting information in the following days. Tomorrow Celeste has her first EVA!!
You should also receive an XO Report/Daily Summary, Engineering Report, EVA Report and Journalist Report.
Better force with you,
Commander Crew 169
